Robbie Amell to Star in CW’s ‘Tomorrow People’

With the casting, he joins his cousin, “Arrow’s” Stephen Amell, at the network.

The Revenge and 1600 Penn actor, has landed the lead role in the network’s adaptation of The Tomorrow People, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the series created by Roger Price, the drama revolves around several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Amell will play Stephen, a tormented young man who longs to be normal and is relieved when he learns that he’s not crazy, but rather part of a group of genetically superior Tomorrow People. In addition to gifts of telepathy, telekinesis and teleportation, Stephen also possesses the ability to stop time.

He joins a cast that includes Home and Away Australian import Luke Mitchell and Mad Men’s Peyton List as fellow Tomorrow People in the drama pilot.

Political Animals’ Phil Klemmer will pen the pilot and executive produce alongsideArrow’s Greg Berlanti and The Vampire Diaries’ Julie Plec. Berlanti Productions’ Melissa Kellner Berman will serve as a co-EP, with Danny Cannon directing the pilot for Warner Bros. Television and FremantleMedia.
